This Privacy Policy applies to this website and interaction with our company, describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use our Services. The terms “we,” “us,” or “our” mean SavingsBonds.com, Incorporated – a division of Union Information Services, Incorporated, and any other affiliated company. The term “Services,” and “Data” means, collectively, various websites, applications, widgets, email notifications, and other mediums, or portions of such mediums, through which you have accessed this Privacy Policy.

By accessing or using our Services, and entering savings bond Data you consent to the collection, transfer, manipulation, storage, disclosure and other uses of Your Information (collectively, “Use of Your Information” and/or “Bond Data – also referred to as “Data”) as described in this Privacy Policy.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. The intent of SavingsBonds.com services and products is to provide U.S. Savings Bond information and bond valuations. We are not responsible for any financial transactions you or your legal representatives perform as a result of the values or information we provide on our website, via reports or services, or telephone, email, or by any of our company representatives.

We provide savings bond information and savings bond redemption values based on information and data provided by the U.S. Treasury Department, the Treasury Departments representatives, their website and published information. We do not guarantee the accuracy of the savings bond values. If the information provided to us by the government is incorrect, we cannot be responsible for inaccurate information provided by our company via website, reports, or company representatives. We do not suggest or provide financial advice, directions, or suggestions based on bond redemptions or bond information. The reports and services we provide are used for informational purposes only. Any and all transactions and any possible or future financial and/or tax implications of owning and or redeeming U.S. Savings Bonds or any bond information retrieved from our site or company should be discussed, reviewed and verified with financial and tax professionals. We are not responsible for actual lost bonds. We are not responsible for gains or losses of owning bonds as a result of using our products or services.

How we protect your data

SavingsBonds.com web servers support the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) transaction protocol originally developed by Netscape and now largely accepted as an industry standard. The purpose of this encryption protocol is to keep confidential the information passed back and forth between a web server and its users.
