This is just one more unnecessary burden on the tax-payer. This is a ploy for votes. I have been investing in U.S. Bonds for many years and so have my children. I have a simple system in my house. When my children get money for chores, birthdays, or grades (I pay $5 for A's & $3 for B's however; they lose $3 for D's and an F means all money is cancelled) they get half and I keep the rest. When they get enough money($25 for a $50 EE bond) then we go to the bank and purchase bonds. I use the savings bond calculator to update their investment each month and let them see their nest egg grow. This teaches them to save at an early age and allows them to stand on their own two feet rather than waiting on the govt. for a handout. We need to stop paying for people to make babies that can't afford them. We need to get back to my father's generation where you stood proud at the end of the week just because you had earned your paycheck regardless of the amount. |

That is the most ludicrous thing I have heard someone say, especially someone who is a presidential candidate. WHY WHOULD WE WANT A BOND FOR EVERY BABY BORN? We are in debt where we will probably never see the light of day. I am not receiving my full social security since I had one of the old retirement systems known as CSRS with the federal government. I am being penalized by 2/3 and get peanuts for social security. In fact, there are over 300,000 in this situation. NO BOND FOR EVERY CHILD! |

I'am sure she's just looking for votes and has no intention of any such thing. Not a person to be trusted....she already proved that! God have mercy if she is elected! |

lets think about it for a minute a $5000 saving bonds it takes 30 yrs for a EE bond to mature and and reach is face value by the time a child (newborn) is ready for college the bond won't be worth the face value; also who is going to pay for it(I mean the 2500 up front dollars) and what are the restrictions. Health care is a bigger issue these children may not make it to college age for health reason mainly the lack of health care. Hilary Clinton has alot of great ideas about what she would do if she is elected as president of the US, hey by the way isn't she the Senator of NY? why haven't she pushed this and all of her ideas as an ELECTED OFFICIAL? what makes this issue more important now and if she is elected as president of the US. People this country is in a fix and in great debt, who will lead us to the promised land? |

Are you kidding me? No one paid for my college education (including my parents) and no one is going to pay for my child's education for free... why should I pay for someone else's children? College education, just like health care, is not a basic human or constitutional right--it's a privilege we all pay for. |

This is a glaring example of why Hilary Clinton is not, and never will be qualified to be President of The United States. I am one to believe that people mature enough to create babies, should be mature enough to realize that raising and educating them is a responsibility of parenthood-not of taxpayers. To Hillary, as well as all thinking and responsible tax payers of this great nation I say - Hillary go back to Arkansas. Back to the backwoods you came from and take your goofy ideas with you. By the way don't forget your other goofy idea on health care.
Hillary if your expensive ideas are so great and sustainable, maybe you could explain why many social programs, already in existance are billions in the red.
Wake up America. This woman is a grave danger to this nation. |

At this time the plan doesn't call for citizenship of either parent. Hey, while we're at it, why don't we just buy a $5000 baby bond for every child born in the world. In some countries that would provide a lifetime's worth of income. |

This would be a good program as long as it does not break the system or increase our tax rates. I believe that the oil companies need to kick in the money needed for this cause. WE all use oil and we all will contiue to use it. |

We are not a welfare state. Parents need to be responsible and able to care for their children. Those of us who paid our way thru college and earned what were are getting should be offened. The US cannot afford this! |

In a country where the cost of education and health are the burdens of the "citizens" (unless you are indigent), YES, I believe the "baby bond" is an excellent idea. With, of course, some kind of restriction on the use of said bond...say, limited to continuing education (including trade schools) or extreem medical. I just wish they had had that in place when I was raising my 6 children who have had to pay their own college expenses because we generated enough income to house, feed, clothe and give them medical attention....not to mention co-signing for college expenses!! Let's contribute towards the education & health of our future. |
